The Company: Pubcrawl Theatre was a Toronto-based theatre company known for its site-specific performances. One of their notable productions was In Vino Veritas by Teige Reid – a one-man show about the twists of fate that haunt the denizens of a small pub. In Vino Veritas performed in pubs across Canada and the UK.
In Vino Veritas/Be Always Drunken
The genesis of this poster was a watercolour painting provided by the playwright/performer. I colourized the main character, and rebuilt the background with a softer gradient but a similar feel. We emaphsized the orange in the backround as a strong contrast to the green of the shirt and secondary text. I created a big, beefy, vintage style marqee lettering to anchor the title, angled for interest.
Poster and other promo material was designed to be used at multiple venues.
The performer was experimenting with the title of the piece, so we did two sets of promotional materials: In Vino Veritas vs Be Always Drunken (each being the other’s subtitle).
