CLIENT – The Christmas Story

CLIENT – The Christmas Story (by Jennifer Radford)

Brief: Modernize the design style of The Christmas Story so that it balances modern and traditional, without alienating the existing audience.

Previous years designs were very traditional, text and images centred, with very little movement/energy in the design. The production additionally had an archive of beutiful photos of the production they were underusing.

The Christmas Story

The Christmas Story is an annual holiday production in Toronto which has been running since 1938. I have been working with them since 2012. Design for The Christmas Story includes:

  • Designing and overseeing the branding evolution, colour palette, and graphic identity of the production.
  • A new poster image every year (in two sizes: 11 x17 & 8.5 x 11).
  • Flyers, ads and digital media developed from that year’s theme.
  • A-frame sign (periodically updated)
  • Custom giant art banners that are hung on the outside of the venue for two months each year.
  • Adapting the design concepts during the pandemic, when we created a beautiful film version of the production set in Downtown Toronto.
  • Booking and art directing new photography.
  • Website design along with yearly updates to reflect the new production. More information about The Christmas Story Website Design.
  • Periodic special design requests.
